Classical is considered as the greatest form of music as it is probably the most complex of and cannot be learnt without correct training. Symphony and opera can be considered as sub classifications of the genre. Opera is a drama which is fully sung.

Rock originated from the rock n roll era of the 1950's but continues to be popular.

Metal or "information music" originated following the World war ii.

Folk is traditional music. It reflects the likes, dislikes, wants and needs from the local people and also the time in which they live. Country music owes its roots for this kind of music. This genre of music portrays struggle for survival and their culture of the people. Some of the songs from the famous singer Bob Dylan became anthems for that civil rights and anti war movements.

Techno is called fusion. It's according to African American styles like funk, electro and electric jazz.

Gospel is religious style that is mostly sung in churches. It's beautiful lyrics and melodies.
